Ellipsis - Biffy Clyro Album Review

I've not reviewed an album since Coast's released their debut album back in January so i thought why not review the latest album from my favourite band Biffy Clyro. When the announced that they were releasing a new album i freaked out as there hadn't been any new Biffy since 2013 which feels like forever ago. This will be a review of the deluxe edition which includes two songs that you don't get on the standard edition of Ellipsis. Biffy Clyro have outdone themselves with this one as its different to their last release that was Opposites. They've really experimented with their sound on this album and have even mentioned in a few interviews that they've treated this album like their first album and have been really experimental and have been inspired by all sorts of genres of music.

So the album starts with Wolves of Winter which was the first track the band put out from this album. I think this song the perfect opening track to this album as its an absolute banger. This album continues to have massive sounding songs such as 'In The Name Of The Wee Man' , 'Animal Style' and 'Howl'. Biffy are pretty good a writing a huge sounding song to say the least and they've excelled with writing a banger. I can really see these going down well at one of their gigs as they are ones you can definitely scream at the top of you're voice and end up having no voice left the next day.

Besides the bangers on this album Biffy have also done some really beautiful sounding songs on this album that are more stripped back but there is one on there that i really don't like and this one is 'Small Wishes'. Now the lyrics in this one are really well written I'm just not keen on the sound. It reminds me of something you would hear in the background of a youtube video. I absolutely love the song Re-arrange as its so beautiful. This album for me has completely become one of my top three Biffy Clyro albums. The top 3 are : Puzzle , Ellipsis and Opposites. I think some of the songs on ellipsis remind me of a few songs from Puzzle. Medicine really reminds me of Machines in a good way as it has the emotional lyrics and acoustic sound that makes a more stripped back Biffy Clyro song incredible. This album is not what i was expecting at all and i think Biffy have done completely out done themselves with this one. No wonder why they've become certified festival headliners.MON THE BIFF !!!

My favourite tracks from the album are : Re-arrange , Howl , Flammable and Friends and Enemies (it has children singing on it this freaked me out the first time i heard the child choir). Why you should give the album a listen : Its insane and if you have heard wolves of winter and animal style and liked those then you'll definitely like the rest of the album. Ellipsis was definitely worth the wait for sure and i think it might be one of my favourite albums for 2016 !
