Twenty One Pilots

7.3.16

Venue : Portsmouth Guildhall
Support : Transviolet

Last year i discovered Twenty One Pilots after everyone on twitter was going crazy over them , seeing them live and just becoming obsessed with them. I was probably late to the party like always but i listened to their music and was instantly hooked on the album blurryface when it was released last year. I got the chance to see them at a sold out Portsmouth Guildhall the other week. This is what went down.

Where do i even start with this gig. Oh my god Twenty One Pilots are probably one of the best bands i have seen. Their production is something you would see in an arena tour its that good. At times my jaw dropped with some of the things they did such as drumming in the crowd , well i say crowd more like a board with a drum kit on that the crowd held up as Josh was drumming ! Anyway i'll get into a bit more detail in a moment but this is how the gig went.

I thought this would be a really bad gig where i feel really on edge and nervous constantly because of the people around me pretty much screaming in my ears really loudly bearing in mind we were sat on the balcony again. From feeling on edge i went to absolutely crying with laughter. The same people who pretty much shouted in my ears started off some 'crowd entertainment' before Twenty One Pilots came onstage. They started off by waving their hands around to then making the entire top of the balcony do a Mexican wave ... Yes a mexican wave happened and pretty much everyone on the balcony joined in. It was a wonderful moment.

Transviolet were the support for the UK tour. If you like Halsey then you'll probably like these. From LA the band take synth pop to the next level. They are so , so good live. You can listen to their self titled EP now and its most definitely worth the listen. They are touring the UK and are playing this years Great Escape in Brighton in May.

Twenty One Pilots were just mind blowing. They are one of those bands who can write songs that can be easily be translated into being played live that will make your brain blow up its that incredible. They know how to put on a show and honestly by what i saw last week was insane. Both Josh and Tyler have so much energy onstage you can really tell how much they love performing and seeing their fans get engaged with their music and all that stuff. They played songs such as Car Radio , Polarize , Heavydirtysoul and many other pretty good songs of theirs. Twenty One Pilots are a band you need to see live at some point. If you want to see them in the summer they will be playing Reading and Leeds this August if you want to catch them live you'll be able to see them there !

That was my first gig post of the year ! I think this is on my list of favourite gigs i have been to for sure.

Speak soon ,
Chloe
